Calderdale
MBC
A study was undertaken on a development of 3 high
rise blocks in Halifax to assess the project feasibility of installing
a community heating scheme with CHP. GCT organised the project and completed
a full technical report showing that the scheme was feasible. Grant funding
was identified and full consumer consultations were carried out.
Yorkshire
Electricity
A report was completed for a new heating scheme
part funded by Yorkshire Electricity at Cross Hills near Keighley.
A community heating scheme with CHP was operational. GCT were employed
to report on the benefits of the scheme to the environment and to consumers.
The report was used by Yorkshire Electricity to submit to the Energy Savings
Trust.
Haul
Waste
A full feasibility study was completed for Haul
Waste Ltd at Bristol. The proposed scheme involved reclaiming waste
heat from 2 existing reciprocating engines fuelled by landfill gas. The
reclaimed heat was to be used for heating water for a new community heating
scheme located in a housing estate near to the landfill site. Full engineering
and housing surveys were completed and consumer consultations carried
out. The scheme was then presented to a full Council Meeting at the CREATE
Centre in Bristol.
Chesterfield
BC
GCT completed energy ratings and a housing survey
for a complete village in Chesterfield. The results were presented as
part of an overall study into a new community heating scheme for Poolbrook.
GCT led the project and brought together various partners to ensure the
scheme progressed.
Nottingham
GCT conducts the sales and marketing operations
for EnviroEnergy Ltd, who operate the city centre community heating scheme,
in Nottingham. The scheme utilizes steam from a waste-to-energy plant
at the Eastcroft Incinerator. GCT identify possible customers, organise
surveys of the target buildings then prepare and present proposals.
Ombudsman
George Towler is Ombudsman for domestic customers
to the Nottingham community heating scheme. Any unresolved problems are
passed to GCT to adjudicate when existing procedures have been exhausted.
This appointment is the first of its kind in the UK.
National
Right to Fuel Campaign
GCT is the appointed fundraiser for the campaign,
whose aim is to eradicate fuel poverty. GCT advises on sponsorship and
identifies corporate prospects. Prospects are contacted by mail and telephone.
